Dubai : Rashid Al Habtoor is confident the inaugural Palestine Cup will serve its purpose of raising funds for deprived Palestinian children in the form of an entertaining polo match between the war-torn country and the UAE.

"It will be a nice day and a nice game," said Rashid who has not only helped organise the event but will also be teaming up with his brothers to lead the UAE's challenge at the Dubai Polo and Equestrian Club tomorrow.

The Al Habtoor family's love for polo is no secret and Rashid revealed the sport can play a role in drawing people towards any noble cause. "We thought about arranging a game to raise charity to help the Palestinian children last month. And we play polo which is a great game and can help bring more attention towards the cause. I don't play football so obviously I'm not going to organise a football game to raise charity," said Rashid.

"It's an exhibition game that will surely create a family atmosphere," he added.

Proceeds from the match will head to the Welfare Association, a registered Palestine based charity institution that has been active since 1983 which raises funds for emergency medical supplies and programmes for disabled children in the West Bank region, Gaza, and Lebanon.
