Abu Dhabi: The Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Camel Racing Festival will be held from January 13 to 17 at the Allabsah racecourse in Umm Al Quwain.

The five-day festival, which has attracted a large number of entries from tribes in the UAE and other Gulf countries, offers attractive prizes for the 125 races. The festival is held on the directives from President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan and under the patronage of General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

Shaikh Sultan Bin Hamdan Al Nahyan, Adviser to the UAE President, and President of the UAE Camel Races Federation, thanked Shaikh Khalifa for his continuous support to the traditional sport. He also thanked Shaikh Mohammad, describing his support for the second year as a valuable addition to efforts to promote Arabian thoroughbred camel racing in the UAE and the GCC.

The festival provides an opportunity for owners and members of tribes to meet and network, Shaikh Sultan said.

The first edition was held in Suwwan, Ras Al Khaimah, last year.
