Dubai: The UAE's Hassan Eisa Obaid Ebrahim did the country proud when he was adjudged the best amateur bodybuilder at the annual Arnold Amateur IFBB International Bodybuilding Championships held in the USA this weekend.

During the competition held at the Veterans Memorial Auditorium and the Greater Columbus Convention Centre as part of the annual Arnold Sports Festival, Ebrahim outshone athletes from more than 40 different countries to take the top honours in the amateur discipline.

Ebrahim, who has been a regular winner at continental competitions for the UAE, was presented the winner's Tony Nowak Arnold Classic jacket by seven-time ‘Mr. Olympia' Arnold Schwarzenegger himself in the presence of Rafael Santonja, president of the International Federation of Bodybuilding (IFBB) and Jim Manion, president of the National Physique Committee.

The overall winners in all categories received Tony Nowak Arnold Classic jackets and Arnold VIP ticket packages to the Arnold Sports Festival. Each weight or height class winner received a one-year subscription to Posedown Magazine presented by Bob Johnson. The top five competitors in each weight or height class received trophies.

Maria Rita Bello of Argentina took the women's title, while Nicole Cavalcanti of Greensville clinched the Fitness title. With 44 sports and events, including 12 Olympic sports, the 2010 Arnold Sports Festival has come to offer fitness and fun for all ages since its beginning as a one-day professional men's bodybuilding competition with The Arnold Classic way back in 1989.
