Abu Dhabi: UAE marksman Hamad Bin Mijrin was in a class of his own after bagging two silver medals and a bronze in the trap competitions of the 12th GCC Shooting Championship, being held at the Al Ain Equestrian, Shooting and Golf Club (AESGC).

Team trap silver caps another profitable day for UAE
Bin Mijrin scored 116, and with his colleagues Saif Al Shamsi (109) and Waleed Al Eryani (109) totalled 334 to earn the UAE second place in the team event, while Kuwait won the gold with (343 points) and Qatar finished third for the bronze with 332.
Bin Mijrin then won bronze in the singles with 123, while the gold medal went to Kuwait’s Abdul Rahman Al Faihani with a score of 141 and the silver to Khalid Al Mudhaf (137), also of Kuwait.
Nasser Al Meqlad from Kuwait won the Grand Prix gold medal with a score of 142 while Al Faihani won the silver with 139 and Bin Mijrin the bronze with 137. Bahrain dominated the 50m rifle, winning gold for both the men and women.
In the men’s team event, Bahrain was followed by Qatar then Kuwait, while Qatar’s Ali Al Muhannadi won the gold medal in the men’s individual followed by Jamal Al Sabba and Salman Zaman, both from Bahrain, for the silver and bronze respectively.
In the women’s team event, Bahrain won gold and Qatar the silver, while no bronze medals were awarded. Bahrain won all three medals in the women’s individual, with Aysha Swuaileh winning the gold, Sabeeka Juma the silver and Azza Al Qassimi the bronze.
