Al Ain defeat Al Nasr to stay in title hunt

Al Ain defeated Al Nasr 3-1 in the First Division volleyball league at the Al Nasr Rashid Bin Hamdan Indoor sports hall.

Dubai: Al Ain defeated Al Nasr 3-1 in the First Division volleyball league at the Al Nasr Rashid Bin Hamdan Indoor sports hall.

The win was very important for Al Ain to stay in the title hunt, especially after losing to Al Ahli last week.

It was the second successive defeat for defending champions Al Nasr, who dominated the league for the last five seasons.

Al Ain capitalised on the errors committed by Al Nasr players and took an early lead when they won the first set 25-18, but Al Nasr recovered to win the second set 25-22. Al Ain took the lead again by winning the third set 25-19 and went on to clinch the match by winning the fourth 25-23.

Despite the defeat Al Nasr are still sharing the top place with Al Shabab with 34 points. Al Ain are third with 33 points with Al Ahli fourth with 32 points.

With title race will be between the four clubs, the other teams are attempting to better their position on the league table.

Al Ittihad beat Hatta 3-1 (25-14, 25-23, 20-25 and 33-31, they have now 12 points with 8 for Hatta.
