Abu Dhabi: Saeed Abdul Gaffar Hussain, the former vice-chairman of the UAE FA and Secretary General of the UAE National Olympic Committee (NOC), resigned from the NOC on grounds that it is "illegal" to continue in his office.

"With the resignation of the Chairman of members of the UAE FA board of directors, it has become illegal for me to continue in this office in the NOC because I was appointed in it as representative of the UAE FA and I am not a member in the FA any longer following our resignation two weeks ago," Abdul Gaffar explained in his resignation.

"I tried my ever best in the past period of office to do every possible effort to help in achieving improvement and progress ot the UAE sports sector with a loyal team of volunteers. My resignation comes as an implementation of the organizing rules and laws of the NOC which I do respect," Abdul Gaffar added.

Yousuf Al Sarkal, the First Vice President of the NOC, thanked Abdul Gaffar for his efforts in the past months and announced that Mohammad Al Kamali will take over temporarily till the next meeting of the board of directors of the NOC.
