Bergamo: UAE Team Emirates concluded their week of racing in Italy on Saturday with a 21st place finish in the Il Lombardia for Italian all-rounder, Diego Ulissi.

Victory in the final monument of the season went to Bahrain Merida’s Vincenzo Nibali with Quick-Step Floors Julian Alaphilippe and Team Sky’s Gianni Moscon in second and third, respectively.

The race, also known as ‘The Race of the Falling Leaves’, marked the last of five one-day Monuments in the season, after Milan-San Remo, Paris-Roubaix, the Tour of Flanders and Liege-Bastogne-Liege.

UAE Team Emirates also competed in the Hong Kong Cyclothon late on Sunday, which for the first time has qualified as a UCI 1.1 category race.

The four riders competing are; Andrea Guardini (Italy), Seid Lizde (Italy), Matej Mohoric (Slovenia) and Ben Swift (Great Britain).

This year’s race is set to be record breaking, with more than 4,900 general participants taking part. The 103-km route will bring back fond memories for Matej Mohoric, who won the 2016 race and will be looking for a repeat performance this year.

After this UAE Team Emirates will also compete in the Tour of Turkey, October 10-15 and the Tour of Guangxi, October 19-24.
