The UAE national volleyball team continued their spectacular run of form and beat Kuwait 3-1 yesterday in the Gulf Cup to lead the competition together with Bahrain who beat Oman 3-0.

Bahrain beat Oman 25-23, 25-23 and 25-23 in the day's other match.

The UAE, led by another brilliant performance from their star player Hassan Bilal, won the match 25-18, 31-33, 25-18 and 25-23. This was their second win in a row after beating hosts Qatar on the opening day.

The two teams played a good match, especially in the second game which Kuwait won after a marathon contest, but only to lose the third and fourth games to suffer their second defeat in as many matches.

Bilal won the Best Player title for the second time in as many days. He was assisted by his teammates Khalid Al Hossani, Khalid Waleed, Ahmad Ebrahim, Hassan Ali, Mohammad Fayrooz, Ali Abdullah and Saif Rashid.

Abdullah Ali, the UAE's national coach, ably guided the team to their second victory and said that he was proud of his team's performances more so since many players were still young and playing for the first time.

The teams will take a break with today being a rest day.
