Dubai: More than 100 competitors are expected for the 8th UAE National Lifeguard Championship to be held on December 15 at Le Meridien Mina Seyahi Beach Resort and Marina in Dubai.

Sanctioned by the Dubai Sports Council (DSC), the one-day challenge will see one team and one individual crowned as the UAE’s ultimate life-saver.

Launched in 2006, the event has grown into a landmark competition for lifeguards here under the guidance of Patrick Antaki, General Manager of Le Meridien Al Aqah and co-founder of the UAE LGC.

The event is open to all qualified lifeguards employed at UAE hotels, swimming pools, water parks and beaches.

This year’s event will feature up to 24 lifeguard teams — male and female — from across the country competing in seven events.
