Abu Dhabi: The UAE’s Sumaia Saleh proved herself to be the undisputed ‘Pistol Queen’ when she added two new gold medals in the 25m Pistol competition for women in the 12th GCC Shooting Championship at Al Ain Equestrian Shooting and Golf Club.

Sumaia won the Singles medal and then helped her colleagues: Shamma Al Muhairi and Nada Al Za’abi to win the Teams event with Qatar winning the silver medal while the bronze was not awarded.

Four days ago, Sumaia won the gold medal of the 10m Air Pistol and helped the UAE to win the Teams’ event. She scored 572 points to leave the silver and bronze medals to her Qatari competitors Nasra Mohammad (558) and Souad Al Khater (554), respectively.

Nada finished fourth with 549, followed by Shamma with 537 in fifth place while Mona Al Hammadi finished sixth with 534.

Bahrain’s Abdul Majid Abdul Khaleg won the gold medal in the men’s 50 m Pistol competition with a score of 549, followed by Aqeel Al Badrani from Saudi Arabia with 547 to win the silver while his compatriot Mohammad Al Saeed won the bronze with 545 points.

The UAE’s Saif Al Fares finished sixth with 530, Huamid Al Ali came 10th with 523, Fahad Salem was 15th with 516, Faisal Al Mulla 17th with 504 and Fares Al Ka’abi was 18th with 502. Qatari Noura Al Ali won the gold in the Trap for women with Kuwaiti Sara Al Hawal coming second and Qatar’s Amnah Al Abdullah third.

The UAE men team finished the first day of the Trap competition in second place behind Kuwait and today’s final competition will decide the top three places.
