Dubai: The UAE’s national chess team is participating in the 42nd World Chess Olympiad hosted by Azerbaijan.

The Olympiad, which will run until September 14, involves the participating of more than 181 men teams and 142 women teams representing 177 countries around the world.

The UAE’s delegation participating in the Olympiad was led by Mohammad Al Marzouqi, and includes Fawzia Abbas Ali, administrative responsible for the women team, Efstratios Grivas, general coordinator, Elmer Mjermov, men team coach, Walter Oransibia, women team coach.

The men’s team involves players Salem Abdu Rahman, Jassim Abdul Rahman, Saeed Isaac, Omar Noman and Mayed Rashidi, while their women counterparts includes Amina Noman, Aisha Jihad, Bashayer Khalil and Wadima Al Kalbani.

The delegation also includes two international referees — namely Faysal Mohammad Abdullah and Wahba Ali Al Ali.
