Valdengo: UAE Team Emirates’ Rui Costa and Jan Polanc came 16th and 17th respectively in stage 14 of the 21-round Giro d’Italia, 131-km from Castellania to Santuario di Oropa, on Saturday.
It followed a respective fourth and seventh place finish for Roberto Ferrari and Sacha Modolo in stage 13, 167-km from Reggio Emilia to Tortona, on Friday.
UAE Team Emirates have three podiums, 10 top ten stage finishes and one win so far. They don’t currently have any riders in the general classification top 10, but Ferrari is eighth in the points classification, Polanc is third in the mountain classification and fourth in the young rider classification ahead of Simone Petilli in fifth.
Stage 15 runs 199-km from Valdengo to Bergamo on Sunday. Monday will be a rest day.
