Dubai: Erwan Sidaner and Roisin Thomas claimed top honours at the end of Ride Ajman, the first premier cycling event in Ajman, which witnessed hundreds of cyclists hit the road yesterday.

Riders participated in the 90km or 7km course with a start and finish at Fairmont Ajman after going to the Al Tallah Camel Race course. More than 75 cyclists took part in the 7km charity ride, creating awareness for Al Ajmani Charity Foundation, which aids families in need through its services.

Sidaner finished the 90km distance in a time of 1:58:59 and was awarded a cheque for Dh3,500, while Thomas was the first to cross the finish line in the women’s section with a time of 2:22.32 to also pocket an identical cash prize.

The ride for juniors was won by Ahmad Jaseem in 2:00:16 and the young cyclist was awarded a mountain bike worth Dh3,000. “It was a very nice track, it was tough at the start as we broke away quickly and we kept the pace and it worked well for me,” Sidaner said.

Ride Ajman 2016 was sponsored by Ajman Bank, Fairmont Ajman, Al Janahi Real Estate Centre, Abdulaziz Bin Humaid Foundation, Zoom Studio and Queen Palace.
