Dubai: The Sharjah Ladies Club (SLC) volleyball team dug in for a hard-fought 3-0 win against Al Jazira in the SLC Open Volleyball Tournament being played in Sharjah.
The SLC youngsters were made to fight, but triumphed 25-21, 25-20, 25-15 in game.
The first set was evenly contested, but the SLC women went on to win 25-21 after some long rallies.
The second set, too, was tight but the home team once again won 25-20.
In the third set, things were more in favour of the SLC side as they kept control and won 25-15.
"We are pleased to start this competition on a winning note," said Nada Askar, the ladies sports manager at SLC. "We hope we can continue with the same form and win the overall title," she added.
The competitions in volleyball and basketball are being held every weekend with the finals being scheduled for January 17.
