Abu Dhabi: Shaima Abdulbari Al Kindy emerged the top markswoman in the rifle category of the Armed Forces Officers Club's Ramadan Sports Festival's shooting competition.

Shaima won the top prize as she totalled 196 points, five more than second-placed Jameela Khalid Nasser Al Hadrani.

Marian Jasem with 189 points took the third place while five other shooters finished on the money list.

Meanwhile, action in other competitions in the Dh10 million AFOC Ramadan Sports Festival continued with the tussle for bowling honours entering the final stages.

After the preliminary rounds, the UAE's Hussain Nasser Al Suwaidi emerged the leader with 1,273 points, followed by Arif Al Qubaisi with 1,213 points.

Other who qualified for the final phase were Dhari Al Omeiri (1,201). A total of 24 bowlers are now in the final round with the winners to be decided tomorrow night at the AFOC premises.

The seven-a-side men's football competition, with a total prize of Dh1 million on offer, has also progressed to the knockout stages. With the opening week's First Division Football League matches now complete, quite a few big names are expected to turn out and raise the level of football here.

The AFOC Ramadan Sports Festival, which has attracted over 3,000 athletes from nearly 60 countries, is being held under the patronage of Shaikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Presidential Affairs.
