Dubai: Shaikh Saeed Bin Maktoum Bin Rashid Al Maktoum led the UAE team to win the gold medal in the skeet event at the Asian Shooting Championships which concluded in Singapore on Saturday.
The UAE team won the gold with a score of 354 hits.
UAE shooter Saif Bin Fittais won the silver medal in the individual competition after a tough duel in a shoot-off with Chinese shooter Wang Yang.
Yang drew level with Bin Fittais several times before he missed in the fourth stage to hand the silver medal to the UAE shooter. Bin Fittais scored 143 points.
Qatari Nasser Al Attiya won the gold medal in the competition.
In the team event, UAE shooter Mohammad Hassan was in top form and scored full points which helped the UAE edge past China by two points to win the gold medal.
The UAE shooting delegation dedicated the great achievement to President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, to His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to Shaikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Minister of Finance and Industry, and to Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Al Maktoum, the Dubai Sports Council President.
Shaikh Saeed Bin Maktoum made a special dedication to His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
"On this fine moment, I want to dedicate this great achievement to my uncle who has given a lot to the UAE sport and to shooting in particular. I want to say to His Highness that we were aiming to achieve much better than what we achieved," said Shaikh Saeed Bin Maktoum.
