Kiwon Park, the Iranian coach, was delighted with his team clinching the title despite a poor start when they lost 3-0 to India in Group B.

"This is our real standard, the defeat to India was a good lesson for the players. We benefitted from that. We didn't lose a match and went all the way to clinch the title," he remarked.

Park said that he was confident his team will win the match even when Egypt won the third set.

"I was not worried when Egypt won one set, because I know my players will not squander the chance of clinching the title," he said.

Veselin Vukovic, the Egyptian coach, said that he was happy with his team's performance. "Our players suffered from fatigue. In all the four sets the score was close but Iran were more experienced side and played well."

Vukovic said the Rashid volleyball tournament was a good preparation for his side before the Pan-Arab Games in Algeria next September.
