Dubai: UAE Team Emirates’ Yousuf Mirza, who was recently crowned Asian Road Cycling champion, added another medal to his name after picking up a silver in the Omnium at the Asian Track Cycling Championships in Malaysia on Sunday.

The Emirati, who was representing the UAE national team, narrowly missed out on gold, finishing just five points behind Japan’s Eiya Hashimoto.

“I’m managing to continue my form and feel that I’m in good condition, having improved after racing in Argentina and at the Dubai Tour,” said Mirza. “I love racing on the track. It’s not easy to be competitive on both the road and on the track, but I have that extra motivation of trying to inspire and set new records for the UAE. A silver medal is a great achievement and I’m so happy I’m obtaining important results during the year of Zayed.”
