Sharjah: Mediacom women's volleyball team outplayed the fancied Gulmar Mermaids in two straight sets to capture the 3rd FBC-Mama Sita's Cup women's volleyball title.

They won 25-19, 25-17 in a well-contested final at Al Shaab Sports Club Gymnasium Stadium.

Despite the loud cheers and massive support of its crowd, Gulmar lost control in the entire game allowing Mediacom to connect most of its booming kills and service winners.

Canazares the best

High-leaping Christina 'Bunso' Canazares was named the Most Valuable Player.

She led her team with 16 kills, two blocks and a service winner enough to frustrate the entire Gulmar Mermaids team.

"We've had little support from the crowd before the start of the game, so this win is proof that our focus in the game is undeniable," said Canazares.

She also delivered the icing on the cake for Mediacom by converting a strong smash in the left side of the net against Mermaids defenders in the second set.

"We did not expect Gulmar to fumble, but the Medicom Angels really did what must be done to win this title," said Team Organiser Jenny Aglipay.

"I credited all my players for playing their best."
