Dubai: Falcon and Associates is confident its portfolio of popular sports will permeate further into communities, thus ushering in an enhanced outlook towards exercise and healthy living.

That’s the view of Giselle Pettyfer, vice chairman, Falcon and Associates, who reiterated her belief that popular sports such as badminton and table tennis will go a long way in further improving the state of community health in Dubai in the near future.

“We are absolutely thrilled with this five-star rating for the BWF Dubai World Superseries Final. We are further thrilled to see how these sports have grown in such a short period of time in the nooks and corners of the emirate,” Pettyfer told Gulf News after receiving the five-star award from Shaikh Mansour Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President, Dubai International Marine Club (DIMC).

“We could have never done any of this without the backing of the Dubai Sports Council. But what is even greater is how these sports have grown and become popular at the community level,” she added.

Focused on positioning Dubai through sports, Falcon has been working through the use of top-level sports events throughout the year. Two of their popular events are the Badminton World Federation (BWF) World Superseries and Ping Pong Dubai coupled with the sponsorship of the Chinese table tennis squad — both aimed at meeting Dubai’s aspiration of making a global impression.

Dubai’s four-year association with the BWF Dubai World Superseries Finals and sponsorship of the BWF Rankings under its ‘Destination Dubai’ theme, is scheduled to end in 2017. “The sport has reached community level and the numbers are growing. And that, to me, is the most significant part of the experience,” Pettyfer said.
