Abu Dhabi: Over 80 riders including some of the top ranked ones will be in the fray for today's 120-km UAE International Endurance Cup sponsored by Sorouh.

The FEI three-star ride is one of the four rides that will be worked off at the Boudtheib Endurance Village in Al Khatem to mark the 36th National Day.

The 120-km ride has attracted over 80 riders and will get off to a mass start at the Village at 5.45 am. Last week's winner in Dubai Yousef Ahmad Al Beloushi leads a strong field of riders that include Shaikh Saeed Bin Maktoum Bin Khalifa Al Maktoum, Shaikha Madiya Hasher Mana Al Maktoum, Shaikh Abdullah Bin Faisal Al Qassimi, Ali Khalfan Al Jahouri, Omair Hussain Abdullah Al Beloushi, Ahmad Salim Al Beloushi, Spain's Maria Alvarez Ponton and Hassan Bin Ali.

Heritage sport

The ride will be run in five loops of 30 km, 30 km, 24 km, 20 km and 16 km respectively.

Along with the Open ride, the UAE International Endurance Cup for Junior and Young riders will also be held with a field of around 30 riders in the fray.

Two Federation Qualifiers, one over a distance of 44 km and the other over 80 kms will also be held today.

Masood Al Awar, Special Advisor to Chairman, Sorouh thanked the UAE Equestrian and Racing Federation and Emirates Heritage Club for the company's sponsorship.

"We have already been involved with endurance here at this venue and it has certainly been a pleasure.

"Our support for such heritage sport is part of Sorouh's commitment to social, cultural and other activities involving larger sections of society," Al Awar said.
