Dubai: Shaun Dashwani, Sudarshan Surya , Rajesh Vasantha Kumar and Vinayak Ganesh shared the lead with impressive performances in the second round of the Nissan Children chess tournament at Reef Mall.

Shaun defeated Vishnu Vijay in a keenly contested match. He gained the upper hand in the middle game and backed by efficient technique wrapped up the match.

The tournament is being held in the Swiss system of seven rounds.

This children's event has attracted several young talents and is a chance to showcase their talent and hone their skills.

FIDE Master Hassan Abbasifar of Iran has been providing instruction for all the children.

"The juniors here have excellent talent and more such events needs to be organised regularly," remarked Hassan.

Hassan also revealed that he has spotted some potential champions in Rajesh Vasantha Kumar and Mihir Shah aged between 6 and 8.

The Nissan Master Challenge will be held on March 16 and 17. The FIDE titled masters from Iran will be available to take on chess enthusiasts in a simultaneous display of their skills against 40 opponents.
