UAE number one Mohammad Shehab overcame Gulf singles champion and teammate Eisa Sayyid 4-0, with a bit more ruthlessness than even Eisa expected, in the Skoda Snooker Championships here.

Pouncing on every error, Shehab was clinical with his cue ball positioning and razor sharp with his potting, and left Eisa literally a handful of chances to turn the match around.

This was never close to happening, and it was the consistent Shehab who was the first player into the semi finals. Shehab's opponent in the semi final is a player to reach this stage in a ranking event for the first time.

See-saw fight

Meanwhile, in another match, Ali Bufarroosha, the former Gulf under-21 champion, had a see-saw battle with Indian ace Matthew Thomas. Drawing level at 3-3, Bufarroosha immediately built a quick lead of twenty seven points before Thomas fluked a red and made twenty two. This opened a mammoth safety exchange which was eventually settled by a trademark long pink from Bufarroosha, landing perfectly on the match winning black.

Bufarroosha is getting closer and closer to his dream of joining the UAE team this year and will also have to do well in the remaining events to assure himself of this coveted prize.

Mohammad Al Joker got the expected win over Salim Ali Salim, the 4-0 scoreline being an added bonus.
