Abu Dhabi: The UAE’s Humaid Abdullah Khalifa Al Muhairi led 11-year-old bay stallion Hattrick van de Noordheuvel to clinch the Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Academy Presents Young Riders Class at the Al Shira’aa International Horse Show.

Al Muhairi was one of the six in the all-UAE jump off and he went on to clinch the title with a time of 39.08 seconds. The second place was bagged by Moufi Owaida Al Karbi on Calvaro’s Star with 40.24 sec, while Saeed Mohammad Al Maazmi was third in 43.63 sec.

“I studied the course and looked at places where I could save some time and cut some corners. I’m very happy to win in our home show for the Al Shira’aa team. It’s an amazing event. It’s not always easy because I can’t train too much, but I’m very happy with this result,” said Al Muhairi, who has qualified for the Nation’s Cup for Young Riders in Sharjah next month.

Another young UAE rider, Eisa Omran Al Owais was successful in the Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Sport Academy Presents International Jumping with Jump Off on the grey gelding Avelon with a clear against the clock in 40.33 sec. Omar Ayman from Palestine was second on Stella in 42.85 sec while Haya Ali Saeed Al Shamsi was third on Carla in a time of 63.93 sec.

German Grand Prix rider, Philipp Weishaupt won the just-for-fun knockout class which saw riders, mounted on riding school ponies go to head-head on mirror image jumping courses.
