Dubai: Pre-event favourite Shaikh Abdullah Al Qasimi set the pace with a blistering time during the spectator stage of the Ajman Rally held at the Ajman City Centre on Friday.

The 90-kilometre rally, organised by the Emirates Motor Sports Federation (EMSF) under permit from the ATCUAE is being held under the patronage of Ajman Crown Prince Shaikh Ammar Bin Humaid Al Nuaimi.

Shaikh Abdullah, the current saloon class leader, entertained hundreds of spectators with his driving skills, completing the first round on the specially laid track with a time of 1.01 minute, while he clocked a mere 57 seconds in the second round.

The veteran driver has already assured himself of the championship title by driving himself into an unassailable position having collected 20 points overall with wins in the same class in Abu Dhabi and Sharjah.

The presence of the experienced Michel Saleh, Ron Oakeley and Rashid Al Ketbi promises to heat up proceedings today.
