Dubai: YalaSports, a leading sports event management company, will be organising the Dubai Investments Park inter-company Olympiad in May and June.

The Olympiad is being held as a build up to the 2006 Fifa World Cup that starts in Germany from June 9.

The Dubai Investments Park inter-company Olympiad will see companies from the Dubai Investments Park fielding teams to compete in 10 events, namely mini soccer, indoor cricket, basketball, volleyball, tennis, squash, table tennis, badminton, bowling and billiards.

"Our aim is to provide maximum exposure and opportunities for individuals and organisations with passion for sporting excellence, as well as fostering and encouraging the growing trend of sports participation in Dubai," stated Waleed Hamed, General Manager and founder of Yalasports.

"The Olympiad is Dubai's first event of its kind organised on such a large scale. Our goal is to make it an annual event to give companies a means of expressing corporate citizenship and corporate social responsibility while also generating goodwill and exposure," noted Najwan Shooli, who handles marketing and public relations with YalaSports.

The 10 sporting events will be hosted at various prominent health clubs and venues offering indoor and outdoor sports facilities. A grand closing ceremony is also planned, where the winners will be announced and presented with their medals, trophies or plaques.

The event, to be launched on May 20 and a conclusion at the Dubai Investment Park on June 8, has Ford as the main sponsor along with Marmum and Jebel Ali Club. Further details on www.yalasports.com.
