Detroit: Russian forward Pavel Datsyuk will miss at least a month with a separated shoulder, the Detroit Red Wings said on Wednesday.

Datsyuk, who was Russia’s top forward at the Sochi Olympics in February, underwent an MRI scan that revealed the severity of the injury.

“It is going to be around four weeks, give or take,” Detroit general manager Ken Holland told TSN.ca on Wednesday.

The injury occurred during Monday’s National Hockey League exhibition game, when Penguins defenceman Rob Scuderi checked the Red Wings star Datsyuk into the boards with four minutes left in the third period.

Datsyuk, 36, was limited to just 45 regular-season games last year due to concussion and knee issues. He finished with just 37 points, his lowest total since his rookie season in 2001-2002.
