Ottawa: Sean Kuraly scored his first two NHL goals — his second at 10:19 of double overtime — as the Boston Bruins stayed alive in the Stanley Cup play-offs with a 3-2 win over the Ottawa Senators on Friday.
Kuraly scooped in a loose puck to end the game, pulling the Bruins within 3-2 in the best-of-seven first-round series.
The Senators will have another chance to clinch the series in Boston on Sunday.
David Pastrnak had the other Bruins’ goal, while Mark Stone scored his first goal in 20 games for the Senators and Jean-Gabriel Pageau also found the back of the net in regulation.
Tuukka Rask made 41 stops for the Bruins and Craig Anderson stopped 36 shots in the Senators’ net. The Senators had two power plays in the final 5:08 of the third period but couldn’t capitalise.
Boston appeared to have the game sewn up with 5:35 left in the first overtime, when Kuraly broke in down the left wing and fired a shot that Anderson stopped before the loose puck was put into the net by Noel Acciari.
After a review, however, the goal was wiped out when it was ruled Kuraly was guilty of goalie interference.
Pageau gave the Senators a 2-0 lead on a breakaway 30 seconds into the second period, beating Rask with a low shot between the legs.
Pastrnak scored his second goal of the post-season to cut the gap in half at 8:40 of the second.
Kuraly tied the score at 17:05 with his first NHL goal, tucking the puck through a small opening left by Anderson while he was just stepping out from behind the net.
Stone had scored on a breakaway for the only goal of the first period.
