Dubai: The UAE’s first professional golfer Ahmad Al Musharrakh has been given a boost with the news that he will be sponsored by golfing brand Titleist.

The 21-year-old turned pro last month ahead of the 2012 Mena Tour and he has now been signed up by Titleist through Prosports International, meaning he will use their golf balls, driver, gloves and Vokey wedges.

Ara Nakhnikian, Managing Partner of Prosports International, said at the signing ceremony: “Having a UAE national like Ahmad joining the paid ranks is great for the profile of the sport in the region and Titleist are proud to be associated with the first UAE national golf professional.

“Hopefully Ahmad’s profile will encourage the next generation of UAE nationals to become involved in the sport. We will do everything we can to make Ahmad’s transition from amateur to professional as smooth as possible.”

Al Musharrakh added: “I would like to personally thank Titleist for their commitment as I start this new part of my life. I have always been a fan of the brand as an amateur and look forward to continuing this association.”
