Dubai: Argentinean pro Matias Colombres was outstanding with a fine hat-trick to help Ghantoot Polo to yet another major title this season with a 5-3 win against The Rhinos in the final of the 1st Zayed University Polo Cup at the Dubai Polo and Equestrian Club here late on Friday.

Watched by an eager Shaikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and President, Zayed University, Colombres was equally dominant in defence, blocking out the deadly quartet of Stuart Wrigley, Edward Morris Lowe, Marco Focaccia and Augustin Lorea representing The Rhinos from the United Kingdom.

Backing up Colombres's effort was a goal apiece from Nasser Al Dhari and Nasser Al Shamsi while Ahmad Al Nuaimi proved effective upfront for Ghantoot Polo, winners of the prestigious Dubai Gold Cup earlier this season.

In the fight for third place, Dr A Polo Team representing Pakistan quelled a late charge to win 7-4 against Panchariya Polo representing India. Helping the Dr. A Polo cause was the duo of Rudolfo Ducos with four goals and Max Kalza's fine hat-trick. Panchariya Polo tried their best to keep the fight alive and scored two quick goals in the fourth chukker through Om Singh and Gonzalo Yanzon, but it proved to be a bit too late as Kalza completed his hat-trick while scoring the seventh goal for Dr A Polo.
