London: England Soccer star David Beckham on Wednesday hit out at "totally untrue and ridiculous" allegations that he paid £6,000 (Dh34,654) for a night with two prostitutes.
Beckham, 35, was said to be "furious" after Irma Nici claimed she had slept with the football icon five times and insisted that he had never even met the former call girl.
Nici, 26, told US magazine In Touch that she had sex with Beckham in hotels in New York and London in August and September 2007.
She claimed they had a threesome with another vice girl. Beckham, who has been married to Victoria, 36, for 11 years, plans to launch legal action against the magazine.
A spokesman for the star said: "The allegations that have been made are completely untrue and totally ridiculous, as the magazine was clearly told before publication.
"Sadly we live in a world where a magazine can print lies and believe they can get away with it."
A source close to Beckham told the Mail he believes it may be part of a smear campaign to harm England's chances of holding the World Cup in 2018. Beckham is due in Trinidad and Tobago shortly as part of his role as an ambassador.
Nici, who said she was of Bosnian origin but brought up in England, alleged she met Beckham after being introduced to him through a mutual friend. Beckham was in New York to play a match for his American team, LA Galaxy.
