Dubai:The organisers of Dubai Tour 2015 have moved in along with the Road and Transport Authority to ensure minimum inconvenience to residents during the four days of the cycle race.

Held under the patronage of Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman, Dubai Sports Council (DSC), all four stages of the tour will have a start at the Dubai International Marine Club (DIMC) this year. Last year, the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) had been the race headquarters.

Led by Race Director Huraiz Bin Al Mur Bin Huraiz, the organisers have planned all four stages of the race in such a way as to cause limited inconvenience to the people of Dubai. “We have worked closely in collaboration with the RTA to put a map for roads to be used for the race, while also giving them alternative routes that can be used even in case of emergencies,” Bin Huraiz told Gulf News.

“We will also be using the media to publicise these road maps so there is minimum effect on the traffic flow especially on the routes that will be used for the race. The best advice I can give residents is that they try and avoid these routes during the course of the tour so that contributes to the overall success of this event for Dubai,” he added.

“The RTA has done an amazing job in offering us alternative routes that can be used during the course of the four days of the race. This year we have moved the race headquarters to DIMC and hopefully this will facilitate smooth flow of traffic without causing any major inconvenience to the public,” Bin Huraiz hoped.

Taylor Phinney of the BMC Team comfortably won the overall classification after opening with a win in the opening day’s time trial stage, while Team Giant’s Marcel Kittel dominated the three sprints.

Though the race headquarters have been shifted out of the city, the routes don’t show too much of a difference with cyclists starting off on four days from DIMC and heading to different destinations across Dubai.

“We will be using other social networking media like the Dubai Police and RTA websites to keep the public updated on the changes and it would be better if vehicles avoid these roads,” he added.
