Dubai: The organisers of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 said it would stick to November 30 deadline for completion of all stadiums construction while all the facilities will be match-ready by December 31 this year.
This was said at a meeting of the Central Organising Committee (COC), chaired by ICC President Sharad Pawar in Bangalore yesterday.
After the COC meeting, where the Host Tournament Directors presented an update, Pawar said: "I can assure everyone who attends the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 that they will be attending an exciting event staged in the most modern of cricket facilities.
ICC Chief Executive Haroon Lorgat expressed satisfaction at the general progress in preparations for ICC's flagship event. He said: "I am satisfied with the overall progress made to date and importantly, I am reassured to hear that the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 Security Directorate has all the safety and security plans in place for the event."
The ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 Security Directorate is chaired by BCCI President Shashank Manohar and includes security agencies and independent consultants.
Anti-corruption code
Lorgat also revealed that all players and support staff attending the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 in Bangladesh, India and Sri Lanka will be given further and updated education on the ICC's anti-corruption code.
"It is absolutely vital for our flagship event and the future prosperity of cricket that we maintain public confidence in the integrity of the game. Repeating the education and awareness to players and support staff will leave no room for doubt. We are committed to a zero-tolerance approach to corruption."
The COC also confirmed that Wizcraft International, an India-based company with offices worldwide, will conduct the opening ceremony in Dhaka on February 11 — two days before the opening game of the tournament in the same city.
