The UAE Boxing national team will leave today to Damascus to hold a joint training camp with their Syrian counterparts in preparation for the Arab Boxing Championships.

The training camp will extend until July 28 when the players will leave to Cairo to take part in the Egypt International Open Tournament and the Arab Boxing Championships, from July 30 to August 6.

The UAE team features: Ebrahim Al Zaabi, Salim Jamal Al Marry, Qasim Al Baroot, Abdullah Ali Al Hameri, Khalfan Ali Khalfan and Hassan Khalfan Askoor led by their Uzbek coach, Mokhamidov.

The Syrian training camp represents a major step in the UAE's preparations as the Syrian boxers won a gold, two silver and one bonze medals in the Mediterranean Games, which was held in Spain last month.

Meanwhile, the UAE Boxing Association has opened their new training centre in Dubai to provide training facilities to all the interested UAE youth.

The centre features a swimming pool, all boxing facilities, a sauna and the services of Tursson Ghali, the Kazakhstan coach.

All the facilities are offered free.
