Manny Pacquiao’s trainer Freddie Roach says Danny Garcia and not Amir Khan is the Filipino’s preferred next opponent.
And Roach believes a Pacquiao victory over American Garcia would set up a ‘Fight of the Century’ rematch with Floyd Mayweather, according to the Daily Mail.
Pacquiao’s promoter Bob Arum had claimed the Filipino was ready to get in the ring with Khan, with Abu Dhabi the favoured destination.
But Roach has poured cold water on that idea. “The fight we want is Danny Garcia,” he said.
Mayweather is adamant his next fight – against Andre Berto on September 12 – will be his 49th and final bout.
But few in boxing circles believe the man they call ‘Money’, and Roach is among them.
“Don't believe it,” Roach said. “Floyd will fight on to his 50th. Too much money to be made. Especially if he fights Manny again.
“No shoulder injury and Manny beats him.”
