Boxing icon Manny Pacquiao is not only a celebrated prized fighter and the symbolism of hope and success among Filipinos – international celebrities from all over the world have also shown their admiration and support.

As Pacquiao winds down his last days of training for his mega showdown with the undefeated American Floyd Mayweather Jr., Gulf News checks out the celebrities who are in the corner of the Filipino boxer.

Recently, Hollywood star Sylvester Stallone, known for playing Rocky Balboa, visited the eight-division world champion at the Wild Card Gym. Pacquiao posted a picture of himself faking a left-handed punch on Stallone.

Four days ago, Pacquaio also thanked the Los Angeles American basketball star Jeremy Lin for visiting and showing his support.

American mixed martial artist and actress Ronda Jean Rousey also struck a pose with Pacquio. As reported, Rousey, dubbed the queen of UFC, is the only person who has been promised a free ticket to the fight by Bob Arum.

Retired American NBA superstar Karl Malone, who’s wife Kay is half Filipino, also showed his support by visiting Pacquiao.

Australian Christian evangelist and motivational speaker Nick Vujicic also visited Pacquiao in his home in Los Angeles. Pacquiao posted how Vujicic inspired him to be thankful for everything and to love the Lord more every day. Vujicic was born with tetra-amelia syndrome, a rare disorder characterised by the absence of all four limbs.

A regular supporter and friend, American actor Mark Wahlberg, dropped by during the first few weeks of Pacquiao’s training and preparation in the US.
