Manila: The Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) has released 500,000 stamps and 300,000 more souvenir sheets honouring the country’s eight-division world champion Manny Pacquiao ahead of his long-awaited fight against Floyd Mayweather Jr in Las Vegas on May 2.

Stamp collectors and fans can buy individual ‘Fight of the Century’ stamps for 10 pesos (Dh0.83) or souvenir sheets for 40 pesos, said PHLPost Postmaster General Josie dela Cruz, who predicted the limited edition stamps will sell out.

Pacquiao is being “honoured for uniting all Filipinos here and abroad every time he fights in the ring,” said Dela Cruz.

PHLPost previously released a Pacquiao commemorative stamp ahead of a fight with David Diaz in 2008.

The Philippine Stamp Committee — composed of representatives from the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), the Philippine Philatelic Federation (PPF) and the National Historical Commission of the Philippines — approved the design of the new stamps.

Meanwhile, a biopic entitled Kid Kulafu, directed by Paul Soriano and produced by Ten17P, will be released in the United States and Canada on Friday. The film depicts the hardship experienced by the young Pacquiao when his father left his family.
