Dubai: Manny Pacquiao will be wearing the world’s most expensive shorts when he fights Floyd Mayweather Junior at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on May 2.

Six sponsors have paid a total $2.25 million (Dh8.2 million) to have their logos emblazoned on PacMan’s trunks for what will be the richest fight of all time, said to be worth $300 million and billed as ‘The Fight of the Century’.

“The rate for this fight is different from the previous [fights],” said Pacquiao’s business manager Eric Pineda, according to The Manila Bulletin.

“So far, we have six [companies] that will have their logos on Manny’s trunks. If only he could wear long pants instead of short ones,” he joked.

Mayweather is guaranteed $120 million from the fight, while Pacquiao is assured on $80 million. Tickets for the 12-round fight range from $1,500 to $7,500 retail price, but even the cheapest are going for $50,000 online. VIP seats are also retailing at $10,000 and pay-per-view will sell for $100.
