Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao arrived early as promised for his open media day workout Wednesday night (Thursday morning UAE) at the Wild Card Gym in Los Angeles, California.

After weeks of media lockdown, hundreds of journalists assembled to witness the 36-year-old Filipino give the world a glimpse of his current form ahead of his mega showdown with Floyd Mayweather Jr. on May 2 in Las Vegas.

Compared to his previous fights, his media day workout on Wednesday was the most jam-packed the gym has ever seen.

Accommodating as always, Pacquiao did a series of interviews, which lasted for over two hours. In one of the interviews he talked about the importance of his fans in his boxing career and how he feels blessed with his success despite his humble beginnings.

“It's very important in the sport of boxing for the fans to be happy. It's been six years in the making to make this fight happen and the fans are really excited,” said Pacquiao.

“The most important thing of this fight is to let them know that there is God. I mean that [God] can [transform] nothing into something – and that's me. How he raised me up ... you know my life story when I was young, I sleep in the streets. We had no food. He raised me like this, an amazing grace of the Lord,” added an emotional Pacquiao.

He also thanked the media. “Thank you to all the media that came today. Without you guys none of this would be possible. God Bless you all!” he posted on his Instragram account.

With most of his time consumed answering questions from the press, Pacquiao only shadow-boxed and did a few minutes on the mitts to end his three-hour training session for the day.
