Manny Pacquiao has been having treatment on the right shoulder he injured in training ahead of the ‘Fight of the Century’ superbout against Floyd Mayweather in May.

Pictures have emerged of the Filipino boxer having physiotherapy and an MRI scan at a hospital in Manila.

The images show the 36-year-old preparing to have the scan, and being worked on by doctors during the check-up.

Doctors said the injury was healing well, but still advised him to avoid strenuous activity.

Pacquiao caused a storm when he claimed he was denied treatment for the shoulder problem before the fight, which he lost to American Mayweather, 38.

As a result there were several lawsuits launched in Las Vegas by boxing fans who paid to watch the fight.

In September there was further controversy surrounding the fight as Mayweather was accused of violating anti-doping rules, causing Pacquiao to call for a rematch.

Mayweather, who pocketed earnings this year of $300 million, according to Forbes, has since announced his retirement from boxing after a victory over Andre Berto improved his record to 49-0, although many in the sport believe he will fight again to try and make it 50.

Pacquiao, meanwhile, is understood to be returning to the ring in April 2016, with Briton Amir Khan among the possible opponents, and the UAE a possible big fight host.

Thank you to all the doctors. Very good progress. Glory to God. Successful MRI on my shoulder.
