Dubai: Filipino icon Manny Pacquiao will visit Dubai next month to open the new Go Sport megastore at Mall of the Emirates, the retailer confirmed on Monday.

The boxing superstar is booked in to make an appearance at the store on November 5, with Go Sport advising fans to keep a close eye on their social media pages for information on how to win the chance to meet the eight-division world champion.

Pacquiao, 36, has enjoyed a glittering 20-year career in the ring, beating the likes of Ricky Hatton and Oscar De La Hoya on his way to being crowned ‘Fighter of the Decade’ by the Boxing Writers Association of America, the World Boxing Council, and the World Boxing Organisation in 2011.

Since then, Pacquiao has participated in basketball, business, acting, music and politics. Earlier this month, he made headlines when he announced he would run for a seat in the Senate in his native Philippines.

Pac-Man’s appearance at the store — which features dedicated sports zones alongside a 10-metre volcano-shaped climbing unit — is a second major coup for businesses in the Mall of the Emirates’ new third floor after England football legend David Beckham opened the new adidas shop last month.
