Dubai: XCAT, the Dubai-based world powerboat series, will reach 400 million homes around the world via television when the Gold Coast Grand Prix is held in Australia next weekend.

This jump in television figures shows a substantial growth compared to the last round held in Cascais, Portugal.

“We are very pleased with the growth in XCAT TV as it is an important element in our growth strategy for the series,” said Saif Markhan Al Ketbi, President, World Professional Powerboat Association (WPPA) — the promoters of XCAT.

“We plan to target growing that figure to over 500 million homes in the future,” he added.

XCAT, which was founded in 2008, features the world’s best powerboat drivers competing at events organised in the UAE, Europe and Australia this year. The current championship leader is team XDubai with world champions Arif Al Zafein and Nader Bin Hindi.

The Gold Coast event will take place on August 22-23 with live streaming available on XCAT’s YouTube channel as well. Further information about the Gold Coast Grand Prix is available on www.xcatracing.com.
