Dubai: Race promoters H2O Racing are a thrilled lot to have finally breached the bastion of watersport with the opening race of the F1H2O UIM World Championship at the Dubai International Marine Club (DIMC) this weekend.

Lavinia Sanzovo Cavallero, Vice-President, H2O Racing, expressed delight at finally putting together a F1 race at the DIMC later this weekend.

“Dubai is the dream for anyone involved with watersports. Dubai has always remained the ultimate goal for all. Honestly, we had never thought we could enter Dubai with a race of our own,” Cavallero told media at the formal announcement of the race.

The decision to have a race in Dubai was taken within a week, according to race organisers.

And Cavallero added: “Putting things together has not been easy, but Dubai is one of the few places where decisions can be taken fast, and implemented even faster.

“The first one [race] is always the most difficult one to put together and organise. But Dubai has the experience and the expertise to see that even the most difficult step is made easy,” she added.
