Dubai : United Thalasseri Sports Club-All Stars from Dubai got off to a winning start in the inaugural match of the sixth Admiral J. Indian Basketball Society League Tournament with a thumping 57-22 win over Hoopers, Dubai.
The league was inaugurated by Sameer K. Mohammad, Patron of IBS, and Dr Meera Kurian, Director of Dr Sunny Health Care Group at the Salah Al Deen Sports Hall
The All Stars team ,studded with junior Indian, State and university players, dominated the match from the start. They raced away to a huge lead in the first quarter, scoring 22 points against Hoopers' two points.
Hoopers continuously fumbled in the offence, but managed to score 6 points against 11 in the second quarter, the score being 33-8 at half time. The All Stars scored 14 against 9 and 10 against 5 points in the next two quarters to win their opening match. Roger top scored with 17 points and Manoj Abraham netted 16 points for the winners.
In the women's division, defending champions Delhi Private School, Sharjah registered an easy victory over Aeros, Dubai, 42-14.
