Dubai: St Mary's Catholic School (STM) strengthened their lead in the third weekend of High School Basketball Championship fixtures against Bradenton Prep (Brad).

With a superior squad that consists of some of the most athletic players in the tournament, STM crushed Brad and ended any hopes of an upset early on by racing to a 30-0 first quarter lead. After seeing his team demolish the opposition with their non-complacent approach, coach Christopher Chandra gave some of his bench players an extended run in the game.

This allowed the Brad players a chance to reduce the deficit but the brave performance of the much younger side couldn't match the quality that the STM squad brought to the game.

As the game wore on some of the STM players neglected their defensive duties as they chased a record score, which they accomplished as they ran out 83-21 winners, giving them the highest score and biggest win margin in the competition so far.

A day earlier on Friday, Dubai College (DC) made a winning debut in the tournament as they upset Jumeirah English Speaking School (JESS) in a close and physical encounter.
