Dubai: St Mary's Catholic High School, Dubai defeated hosts New Indian Model School, (NIMS) Sharjah in the finals of 21st NIMS Trophy Inter School Basketball tournament played at NIMS, Sharjah. Score 60-48.

NIMS started well in the first quarter as they led 13 against 10 points. St Mary's fought back in the second quarter and took two-point lead at the end of the first half, 22-20.

The match went neck-n-neck in the third quarter but two three point shots by Austin and Jonathan gave St. Mary's six-point lead at the end of the third quarter, 43-37.

NIMS fumbled in the offence continuously as St Mary's scored 17 against 11 in the last quarter.

Austin Paul, who top-scored for St Mary's with 21 points was adjudged as the Best Player of the tournament. He was well assisted by Victor Emeka with 13 points and Edwin Varghese with 11 points.

For NIMS Layanas Abdul Lathif and Mohammad Jasem scored nine points each and Mohd. Sarhan netted eight points.

Edwin Varghese of St. Mary's was adjudged as the Player of the Final and the Promising Player of the Tournament award was bagged by Mohammad Sarhan of NIMS, Sharjah.

Radhakirshnan Nair, Principal, Sharjah Indian School and Muneer, Headmaster NIMS, Sharjah distributed the prizes.
