Dubai: All sports events and activities in the UAE have been suspended with immediate effect following the sad demise of Shaikh Rashid Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

Three matches of Round 3 of the Arabian Gulf League (AGL) have been put on hold by the Pro League Committee (PLC) of the UAE Football Association. Al Ain were scheduled to host Sharjah, while Al Shabab were to meet newly-promoted Dibba Club in the two early matches on Saturday. And in the late night match, Al Nasr were to clash with neighbours Al Wasl in the Dubai derby at 8.15 pm.

“The PLC has postponed today’s matches until Monday, September 21,” the PLC statement said.

The semi-finals of the inaugural Dubai International Junior Basketball being held at the American University in Dubai (AUD) were also re-scheduled for a later date. The final day and concluding presentation ceremony for the Third Shaikha Hind Women’s Sports Tournament was also put on hold until further notice.
