Sharjah: The Sharjah Ladies Club (SLC) defeated Zayed University (ZU) 85/47 in their third match of the UAE basketball championship at Al Ahli Club in Dubai on Saturday.

SLC kept control throughout the first quarter and didn't give away opportunities. They kept scoring points steadily and ended the quarter 21/11.

The second quarter saw a comeback in ZU's game after they changed their strategy, but SLC were quick to fight back and stopped ZU from scoring any extra points ending the quarter with 21/16 in favour of the SLC.

Tension was high in the third and forth quarters, and received great appreciation from the crowd as both teams put in a solid fight. However, SLC outperformed ZU in a tough competition that saw the quarters end with 21/13 and 22/7, leading the SLC to win the match.

Awatif Al Halabi, SLC coach, said: "We dedicate this win to Her Highness Shaikha Jawaher Bint Mohammad Al Qasimi, and I would like to thank all my players for they have put on a great performance through what they have learned in the previous months."

"This win over Zayed University is something that we certainly don't take for granted, as they are one of the strongest teams participating in this tournament," Al Halabi said.
