Sharjah Indian School and Gulf Asian Sharjah got off to a winning start in the 15th edition of the New Indian Model School (NIMS) Inter school basketball tournament.

At the floodlit court of the NIMS, Sharjah, Our Own, Dubai's B team gave a good fight before going down to Sharjah Indian in the inaugural match.

Mohammad Zahran stood tall to collect rebounds from both the baskets for Sharjah Indian as his team took a 15 point lead in the first half.

Our Own's Eissa Galadari gave hopes to his team when he converted consecutive baskets and reduced Sharjah Indian's lead to three points at the end of the third quarter.

Our Own couldn't do anything better in the last quarter as Sharjah Indian played a tough defence and scored 10 points against a single point by Our Own.

Balaram Kakkat top scored for Sharjah Indian with 17 points and Eissa Galadari (10) for Our Own. Sharjah Indian won the match 34 22.

In a well fought match Gulf Asian English School, Sharjah defeated Emirates English Speaking School, Dubai by 7 points. Both the teams were equally balanced in their skills and Emirates English Speaking took a single point lead in the first quarter (10-9).

Gulf Asian levelled the score at half time (14-14). Gulf Asian dominated the third quarter and took an eight point lead, 26-18, which decided the outcome of the match.
