Sharjah: Sharjah Indian School (SIS) cagers outplayed St Mary's High School, Dubai, by a margin of 15 points in their pool league match of the 16th NIMS Trophy Inter-School Basketball Tournament played at New Indian Model School, Sharjah.

At half time, SIS led 33 against 14. St Mary's fought back in the second half and in the last quarter reduced their margin to just five points. (41-46).

SIS's new coach Aziz Rajamon's timely time-outs and a couple of steals and quick baskets by Zuhair helped SIS win the match (60 45).

Earlier, in Pool D matches, Abu Dhabi Model School had mixed luck as they defeated Al Diyafah High School, Dubai, 47-29, but thereafter got drubbed by the hosts in the evening by a margin of 30 points.

In their match against Al Diyafah they led 25 against 19 in the first half. Masoomullah and Francis Lazar were the main scorers for The Model School, Abu Dhabi. Fadal Ali top scored for Al Diyafah. Later in the evening the hosts NIMS, Sharjah, after trailing against Abu Dhabi Model in the first half (20-21) went for a scoring spree in the second half to register a convincing victory. Ajeeth stood tall in defence and offence and top scored for NIMS Sharjah. Francis Lazar top-scored for Model School, Abu Dhabi.

In a pool A match, Indian High School, Dubai, defeated Emirates English Speaking School, Dubai, (66-35).
